A Child’s Christmas on Grenada

December on Grenada may lack snow and sleigh bells, but the island has no shortage of Christmas cheer. As the locals enjoyed their sorrel juice, pumpkin soup, and rum punch, we hiked into the central highlands to Seven Sister’s Falls.

On Christmas Eve we hung stockings by the chronometer (and barometer) with care, and next day we enjoyed a feast of chimichurri steak, ginger-kale-yams, and key-lime pie.

Boxing Day featured scuba diving on Grenada’s west coast. In this video, Megan contemplates some mysterious-looking underwater sculptures to the accompaniment of the theme song for her favorite detective: Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes.

  1. Merry Christmas! We did have a very snowy Christmas Day in Truckee, skiing before presents — quite a feat, but worth it… First chair on fresh powder! Really hoping to see you all in February in the Spanish Virgin Islands.
